Taos — Agent Tutorials

Runnable companions to docs/tutorials/agents — GPU agent-based modeling (NetLogo / AgentScript-style turtles + patches + links). Each page is one tutorial. No accounts or keys (tutorial 11 streams keyless OpenStreetMap terrain).

The path

1Hello, Agents
A population of turtles wandering on a torus — the whole app in one file.
2Turtle Verbs & the Step Program
forward / turn / face / towards / distance, and how the GPU step replaces ask.
3Patches & Stigmergy
A diffusing pheromone grid — the slime-mold (Physarum) model.
4Neighbors & Flocking
The spatial hash + in-radius queries; a flock hand-written from neighbor verbs.
5State & Breeds
Per-agent state in color.a, and N named breeds with their own behavior.
6Births & Deaths
GPU reproduction (hatch/die) — a Lotka-Volterra predator/prey cycle.
7Links
A force-directed graph: spring links untangle a community network.
8Measurement & Plots
Read agent / patch state back to the CPU; a live population plot.
9Defining Your Own Model
The AgentModelConfig spec end-to-end — build NetLogo "Termites" from scratch.

Reference

10Agents on the Globe
The AgentScript Leaflet/MapLibre equivalent — a herd walking real streamed terrain.
11Runoff on Real Terrain
3D agents governed by the terrain — rain flows down the steepest descent of a real watershed and pools in its canyons.

Needs a WebGPU browser. See each tutorial's markdown in docs/tutorials/agents for the walkthrough.
